# Content Policy

Third Platz is only useful if its lists stay trustworthy. This policy covers what's not allowed and what happens when content breaks it.

## Not allowed

- Spam — repeated, irrelevant, or promotional content unrelated to the list's topic and place.
- Doxxing — publishing someone's private personal information (home address, personal phone number, etc.) without consent. Public business information (a restaurant's public address) is fine; a private individual's is not.
- Illegal content — anything that violates applicable law, including content promoting illegal activity.
- Vote manipulation — fake accounts, coordinated voting, or automated scripts to inflate or suppress a ranking.
- Harassment or offensive content — attacks on a person or group, hate speech, or content designed to demean rather than inform.
- Duplicate entities — deliberately creating a near-duplicate entry to work around the existing dedup rules.

## Local businesses and self-promotion

Business owners are welcome to add their own venue as an entity and contribute an accurate, factual blurb — that's normal, useful participation. What's not allowed: submitting reviews or votes for your own business from multiple identities, writing a blurb that reads like an ad rather than a description, or removing/downranking competitors' accurate entries. Disclose the affiliation in the blurb when it's relevant (e.g. "owner-submitted listing").

## How enforcement works

Every list, list item, and entity page has a "Report" link. Reporting doesn't require an account and takes a reason (spam / wrong info / offensive / duplicate / other) plus an optional note. Reports go into an admin queue.

An admin reviewing a report can resolve it with no action, dismiss it, or hide the underlying content — hiding removes it from every page, the API, the markdown twins, and search immediately, while keeping a record for review. Hidden content isn't deleted and can be restored if a report turns out to be mistaken.
