A 30-hectare park funded by the Aga Khan Trust for Culture on a rubble mound used as a dump for 500 years, with a restored 12th-century Ayyubid wall and views over the old city's mosques and minarets.

Zamalek
A 1935 garden at the Nile-facing tip of Zamalek, split into an Andalusian-style section with a kiosk and Ahmed Shawqi statue and a smaller Pharaonic-themed section.

Zamalek
Built by Khedive Ismail in 1867 and opened to the public in 1902, this Zamalek garden hides cave-like fish grottoes and rare trees, having closed for repair in 1965 and reopened in 1983.

Zamalek
Founded in 1876 under Khedive Ismail, this quieter Zamalek garden across from the Opera House is dotted with statues of poets and independence leaders, among them Ahmed Shawqi and Hafez Ibrahim.
