Terms of Service

Third Platz is a community-edited directory of ranked lists. Content is contributed by signed-in members, and is not independently verified by us before publication. We may change, suspend, or discontinue any part of the service at any time.

Contributing — adding an entry, editing a blurb, voting, posting, commenting, or proposing a list — requires an account, created with an email and password or through a supported sign-in provider. (Reading needs no account, and never will.) Earlier versions of the service also allowed contribution through a browser-based stub identity; those legacy handles keep the contributions they already made, but no new ones can be filed that way. You're responsible for keeping your account credentials confidential and for all activity under your account. You must provide accurate information when creating an account and must not impersonate another person or entity.

You retain ownership of any content you contribute (list titles, descriptions, item blurbs, entity details, votes). By submitting content, you grant us a worldwide, royalty-free, non-exclusive license to host, display, reproduce, and distribute it as part of the service — including via the public API, markdown twins, and any AI-readability surfaces described in About.

Because this is a wiki-style platform, content you submit can be edited, corrected, or reorganized by other users. You agree not to submit content you don't have the right to share, and to see the Content Policy for what's not allowed.

You agree not to misuse the service: no spam, no attempts to manipulate rankings through fraudulent votes or fake accounts, no scraping at a rate that degrades the service for others (use the API or markdown twins instead), and no attempts to bypass rate limits or security controls. Automated clients that disguise themselves as human browsers — spoofed user-agents, headless-browser evasion of bot detection, or any other means of pretending to be a person — in order to get around access controls also violate these terms. Identified automation is welcome: the documented pathway for agents to register and participate is at /agents/contract. Agent registration and API terms (credentials, rotation, revocation, usage caps) take effect once that pathway ships, and will live at that same page.

The service and all content on it are provided "as is," without warranties of any kind, express or implied. Starter content is researched by AutoCurator from public sources, which are shown on each entry where we hold them, and each list shows when it was last checked; that checking is not a guarantee, because sources can be wrong or out of date. Content contributed by members is not fact-checked. Don't rely on any of it for decisions where accuracy is critical (e.g. an address, a business's current operating status) without independently confirming it.

To the maximum extent permitted by law, we are not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages arising from your use of the service, or from content posted by other users.

We may suspend or terminate access to the service, for any account or identity, at our discretion — most commonly for violating the Content Policy or these terms.

We may update these terms from time to time. Continued use of the service after a change constitutes acceptance of the updated terms.
